Hindi Worksheets for Grade 1

Our free Hindi worksheets arranged into a simple 4-week order for Grade 1: letters first, then matras, words and numbers.

A 4-week Grade 1 Hindi plan

  1. Week 1

    Swar (vowels)

Revise all 13 Hindi swar, a few each day. Trace each letter, say its sound and its example word.

  2. Week 2

    Vyanjan (consonants)

Work through the 36 vyanjan, about five a day, then check the order with the missing-letters sheet.

  3. Week 3

    Matras (मात्राएँ)

Learn one matra a day, starting with ा. Say the vowel, join it to a consonant, then read and write four simple words.

    Also: Hindi barahkhadi
  4. Week 4

    Reading words and numbers

Read and trace simple words like घर, फूल and स्कूल, and practise the numbers १ to २० with their names.

    Also: Hindi numbers 1–20

More Grade 1 practice

Once the 4 weeks feel easy, these free PDFs add word writing, simple sentences, barahkhadi revision and number practice.

कक्षा 1 के लिए हिंदी वर्कशीट

कक्षा 1 के बच्चों के लिए स्वर, व्यंजन, मात्रा, बारहखड़ी, पढ़ना और लिखना, सब एक ही जगह। रोज़ थोड़ा अभ्यास करें और बच्चे की गति से आगे बढ़ें।

How to use this plan

  • Keep each session to 10–15 minutes, once a day
  • Move on when your child is comfortable, not when the week ends
  • Revise earlier letters for a minute before starting new ones
  • Read the words aloud together; reading and writing support each other

Younger children (LKG and UKG)

If your child is in LKG or UKG, spend longer on the swar and on numbers १ to १०, and focus on tracing rather than independent writing. Matras and reading words can wait until the letters feel easy.
