Letter N Tracing Worksheet for Preschool Kids
The letter N is like two posts joined by a slide that runs from the top of one to the bottom of the other. On this worksheet your child practises the uppercase N, which has two tall straight lines connected by a slanted line in between, and the lowercase n, which is a small line with a single bump like a doorway. The dotted guides help your child draw the straight strokes and the slanting line that gives N its zigzag shape.
As your child traces, say the sound “n” as in nest and net. This is a soft sound made with the tongue behind the top teeth, a gentle hum through the nose, and pairing it with the shape helps the letter stick. The picture cues of a nest, a net and a nose give friendly words to name and talk about together.
This worksheet is made for ages 2 to 7. Younger children enjoy the zigzag of big N, while older children write N words and practise the single bump of lowercase n, which is closely related to m. Tracing N builds control of straight and slanted strokes and teaches children to follow a changing direction. Encourage your child to say “down, up, then slide down and back up” so the strokes of N feel like a fun little journey.
