Letter F Tracing Worksheet for Preschool Kids
The letter F is a tall, neat letter made mostly of straight lines, like a flag waving on a pole. On this worksheet your child practises the uppercase F, which has one tall line down with two short lines reaching right from the top and middle, and the lowercase f, which is a tall curved line with a little cross in the middle. The dotted guides help your child move from simple straight strokes to the soft hook of small f.
While tracing, say the sound “f” as in fish and fan. This is a soft, breezy sound made by resting the top teeth on the bottom lip, and pairing it with the shape helps the letter stick. The picture cues of a fish, a fan and a frog give playful words to say, perhaps with a wiggle or a hop for the frog.
This worksheet is made for ages 2 to 7. Younger children enjoy the straight lines of big F, while older children practise the curve of lowercase f and write F words on their own. Tracing F builds control of straight pulling strokes and teaches children to place short lines neatly. Encourage your child to say “line down, line across the top, line across the middle” so the order becomes easy and natural.
